Missions

CURRENT MISSION OPPORTUNITIES:

Serve a meal at the Ronald McDonald House of Pittsburgh!
On Friday June 1st a small group from First UMC will serve dinner the the RMH connected with Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. We will leave the church Friday afternoon and prepare dinner in their kitchen. There will be time to interact with some of the families at RMH.  If you are interested please see Erin. If you cannot serve dinner but would like to help please consider donating food for Breakfast Bags. Breakfast Bags are pre-made brown bags filled with breakfast foods such as granola bars, poptarts, raisins, etc. We will collect food for these bags all throughout May and the children will decorate the brown bags and pack them for our group to take them on the 1st.

On-going Mission Activities:

Faith Promise Giving
The Mission Committee, using a special Faith Promise giving program, provides funds for mission outreach activities spanning from international to national to local.  Our current Faith Promise supported mission activities include the Embassy of Love church in Russia, the Good Neighbor Lunch, the West Waynesburg Jesus Distributor, and adult and youth mission trip support.

Russian Mission Partner
We partner with the Embassy of Love United Methodist Church in Syktyvkar, Komi Republic.  Their pastors are Pavel and Olga Shishkin.  As part of the Western Pennsylvania Conference Russia Initiative, we provide mission team members to travel to Russia to work with our partners as well as providing spiritual and financial support to them.
